POGO - ALICE

This video is amazing. This song was created out of samples from the movie Alice and Wonderland (well 90% of it was...and the remaining 10% is still pretty awesome.) It was made by POGO and you can DL the mp3 here for FREE. SHRIGHT? Big things in the works folks, you just gotta hang in there.

baby blood found in freezer! will you PAY to keep it there?

O My God.

so I was just browsing the internet, leaning about cascading style sheets and the like, when i notice on one of the pages i'm browsing, THIS banner ad...

ok really... now I've got to know what this is all about.

upon clicking the link I'm taken to a website that informs me that I can, for an additional $2,500.00, store my baby's umbilical cord blood in an "ice bank" for as long as ONE YEAR... one year! really, that's the cost of keeping Pluto's 'bilical-blood' frozen for 365 days. [my first will be named Pluto regardless of sex].

now what I'm thinking at this point is: why would I EVER want to freeze my kidd-o's umbilical-blood? any takers?... anybody have any idea why I might pay such an astronomical price to lock up kiddie RNA in the chill chest?

so he wont get sick.

at least thats what the folks at Cryo Cell wants me to think. apparently, there's going to be some catastrophic disease that will befall my child in the next year that will require frozen umbilical blood to escape, and for the menial cost of $2,500.00 a year I can apparently cross him/her/it off the infected list. It seems to me that what's really going on here is some schmuck [maybe Cheney maybe not] is financing scientists to offer vulnerable mothers an alternative to a disease-ridden first year of childrearing [which ALWAYS happens], for the exchange of their own newborn's DNA fingerprint. with which he can breed his own clan of super-voters who will be genetically programmed to vote for Judd Bush[Dubya's great nephew] and/or shoot people in the face.

best part is, if I can just convince you to relinquish the soul of your next-born I'm entitled to a 5% discount on my policy! sign up now!

TUNEAGE

Hey all,

So there is a great webiste out there on the interweb called Tuneage. They basically post songs everyday that they like so people can listen to them and talk about them. Basically it is just a great place to check out new music, and old classics. Anyway, we have been featured on Tuneage! It is a great site and they are awesome people. Here is what they had to say about us...

"The music I find myself in the mood for can vary wildly from minute to minute, but something I can always listen to is down-tempo electronica. I don’t know what it is, but I always seem to have some on stand by.

Centercourse is an LA duo putting together just the kind of down-tempo electronica that I love. “Looks Like It Sounds Good” has a great night-time feel and a mood that reminds me of the Matrix movies. Also, in the middle of all this “chill” is something else I love in electronic music: glitches. If you need to take a few minutes this afternoon and relax a little, I don’t know that I can recommend a better song to help you do that.

Centercourse is currently working on their debut album which ready for release this December. So if anyone from my family is reading this, I know what you can get me for Christmas."

The track is also posted up there if you want to hear it again (and you should cause it basically RULES.) Anyway, catch you all on the flipside, and visit tuneage, it kicks patoot.

The Lone Filmmaker: Part Deux

Hey All,

Well while I was changing my homepage to help save the planet...I received an email from the Lone Filmmaker himself. Apparently he used another of our tracks in his Lone Filmmaker Series...and I wanted to share the wealth with you folks.

That's all I got for now, but keep it real y'all...

cheers,

ben

well...you could save the planet...

--- it's 4:49 in the AM, wednesday, July 16th, and I'm completely restless. which may/will explain why i'm so badly searching for something to write about/reach out to people with/DO... in the verbal state of the word. Is there any other?

but, uhh... just thought, any of you not in the know... should know about 'blackle'.

blackle will save us from armageddon
a poorly titled search engine that is really just a shell [front page] for google... though a good idea. and the theory is this:

"Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. 'Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen.'"
long story short... it's black instead of white, which uses less energy. thus saving our ever-shriveling planet.

but realistically folks... if you're missing that 'dare to be great' situation that hasn't presented itself yet... or perhaps you're apprehensive about handing over your last two cans of baked beans that might keep you alive during nuclear winter to 'Tiffany' the girl scout who really wants her 64 megabyte waterproof mp3 player so she can rock out to the jonas brothers at 'mini-me-boot-camp-for-girls-who-cant-swim-good'......whatever your cause......

just go to your preferences and reset your homepage form google.com to blackle.com. save a tree, or a fish, or a can of baked beans, or tiffany from the inevitable ridicule at swim practice for actually liking those fruit bats.

whats with these videos?

alright. am I the ONLY viewer of music videos who has a problem with the degree of empathy PORTRAYED in the video versus the degree of emotion delivered in the vocal performance???

to be more specific, and even provide an example... check this out [katy perry's 'ikissedagirl']

since the first time I saw Peter Gabriel singin about his sledgehammer, i've always noticed/had a problem with the direct connection between the amount of facial distortion it generally requires for singers to create the sounds that emit from their vo-boxes, to the cinematic sibling that ensues. now maybe this is just a result of actually watching singers live and in-studio, but I think we all know that when Mariah is nearing that solar-sharp-seventh note, her eyes flatten back farther than John Cho's after eight hits in the Kumar picture.

long story short, let's direct a video that displays the vocal excitement that goes right along with it, i will personally guarantee more sales.

SHRALPDOWN!

Hey All,

I mentioned in an earlier post that we would be working with OneFive Media, the most grizzly gnar shredders around on their new mountainboard film SHRALPDOWN! Well the film is finally out and it is about as awesome as Chuck Norris, if he was twice as badass as he actually is. I mean just check out this screen capture...WTF?

Justin Dersham tearing it up on an MBS mountainboardThat is Jables Dersham goin huge on an MBS Board. JD is the Producer/Editor/Videographer/Super Mega Badass of the film, and I would definitely recommend protection before giving the film a look (especially for the ladies...this film is POTENT).

Anyhow, the movie is totally free on the OneFive Media website, and we have about 5 tracks featured in it, so be sure to go check it out. I have also included the trailer, just in case you need more convincing that you should head over to OneFive Media and checkout Shralpdown! Word up y'all...big stuff comin up, stay tuned.

a history, in brief

Photo of Ben Crump by Chris Vegaper the request of a few fans, I've decided to narrate a bit of a back story to the becoming of centercourse.

some of you may or may not know that ben and I have been making music together for years, and actually started out in a classic rock band in colorado. i had led this little band for a few years when my drummer flaked out on a gig we had coming up in a few days. strapped with no drummer i was sitting in jazz band [high school days] listening to ben rock his **** out and asked him if he might want to play with us in greeley that weekend. he quickly obliged and even agreed to a couple ridiculous rehearsals which entailed learning 4 hours of music we'd been playing for years.

gig time came and ben cracked it wide open, and had a blast doing it too. the rest of the band welcomed the wry comedic perspective of a younger hungrier drummer and the rest is history... well it's all history, technically. because the only thing happening is now... which isn't now anymore. now it's then. hmm.

uhhh, but from there, we all went to college and I moved across the country and while other members moved on to marriage and other avenues of life ben and I kept in touh and developed a distinct passion for really glitchy electronic music. four years and many phone conversations later we moved to vegas and began composing. while vegas was a rather stagnant 6 months career-wise, we wrote some really dope shit. [one track of which i am mixing now featuring the incomparable joanna stevens, which you can all hear soon]Chevy Bhorntus Self Portrait

so now we live in LA in mansions fighting off retard-strength-paparazzi and mega-ton-hot-bitches. well we're workin on it anyways.

The Lone Filmmaker

Hello All,

Robert Hindle, better known as "The Lone Filmmaker" is going to include some of our music in his film project. Here's a statement from Robert...

"I am making a feature film - entirely on my own - and my girlfriend is filming me doing it.

Witness the struggle, the setbacks, the highs and lows as I fight the odds; and see the process of filmmaking like never before!

Please help me - It is very hard to get your film seen without famous celebrities, but if I can show that there are already people interested in what I am doing - then I may stand a chance! Please help me by signing that you are interested."

As he has to do everything for the film himself, our music is going to be featured in the video blog. We are totally stoked to be involved, and when I saw the first episode of the vlog, I was hooked. I immediately watched the rest of them until I was caught up to date, and subscribed to his channel on youtube. I have included the first vlog here so you can get a taste.

Also if you visit TheLoneFilmmaker.com, you can view the latest videos, get info on both Robert and Gabriella, and sign his guestbook which will help get his film seen. I will keep you guys up to date as to when the episode featuring our music goes live. Until then...

cheers,

miss automatic

Joanna Stevens of the Solar Twins teams up with centercourseheaded over to joanna stevens' place to work on a vocal she's doing for one of our tracks. she's absolutely fantastic my good friends. we like to call her miss automatic, because she is. she's singing over one of the first tracks ben and i wrote together over a year ago while we were living in lovely las vegas. [i dont mean that at all, it's not lovely in the least bit]. we've been through a couple of different vocalists who just didnt bring it to the table but now, jo is knockin it out in a big way.

ben and i met her at kate havnevik's release party in hollywood way back and discovered not only an affinity for similar styles of music but also for dry british comedy.

anyway we'll post the track on the website and on our myspace once we finish it so keep a lookout.
